Conrad Jupiters Casino (Gold Coast): Extension & Refurbishment

CPPM is project managing the complex design and construction delivery of a $55 million addition and refurbishment of the renowned Conrad Jupiters Casino on Queensland's Gold Coast.
The project titled Project Phoenix comprises:
- Extreme fast track delivery approach to both design and construction phases
- Management of the complex array of approvals related to a licensed casino in Queensland
- Management of the owner's operational team to develop, agree and record reverse design briefs
- Management of ongoing "value engineering" approach to ensure designs meet approved budgets
- Management of the owner's operational team to ensure smooth transition of gaming product from old to new areas with minimum down time
- Management of a top quality team of experienced consultants, contractors, sub contractors and suppliers
- Management of the main contractor through a client specific form of construction management agreement
- Preparation of the macro program and management of the micro programming activities for the entire works
- A complex foundation system made up of several different piling technologies
- The construction of 3000 square metres of all new casino floors at a level 12 metres above ground
- There is approximately 3500 square metres of all new construction, with an additional 3200 square metres of total refurbishment of existing casino space
- The project will include a new upmarket "premium slots" club as well as all new features and facilities by way of new themed bars, a unique "in-casino" restaurant, open air balconies and enhanced access provisions
- The staged completion and handover of up to thirty different stages of the works according to a demanding and fixed schedule
- Major upgrades of existing mechanical services, cooling towers, switchboards and stand-by generators
- Creation of smoking areas to comply with new state government legislation
- Construction started on 1 August 2005, less than 11 months later the first 50% of the new casino floor was open to the public on 30 June
- Progressive handovers to specific facilities required on 25 August, 27 September and 27 October 2006
